LINHUE, Kauai- The WSU men's golf team is in 11th
place after round one of the John Burns Intercollegiate in Lihue, Kauai. The team shot a collective 296 (+8), and sits one stroke ahead of Fresno State (297, +9). UNLV leads the pack after going 18 under par in the first round for a score of 270.
Sophomore
Daniel Kolar is in the top 20 after shooting one under par with a 71, tying him for 18th with seven others. Kolar maintained a score of even par throughout the first nine holes, but came back on the 13th and 17th holes with two birdies to bring him under par.
Senior
Derek Bayley sits tied for 34th with 11 others. Bayley kicked off the tournament with a birdie on the first hole, and kept up the momentum to finish the first nine at one under par. Bayley marked his third birdie on the 10th hole, but bogeyed the 12th, 13th, and 17th for a first round score of 73 (+1).
The Cougars tied for the most pars made in the first round, sharing the spot with Texas El Paso, both of which recorded 59 pars.
