WSU VOLLEYBALL TRAVELS TO CALIFORNIA FOR LBSU MIZUNO INVITE
The Washington State University volleyball team (2-1), winner of the Purdue Mortar Board Premier tournament, has won its season-opening match in 23 of the past 25 years...Cougars travel to the Long Beach State Mizuno Invitational, at the Walter Pyramid this weekend...WSU plays Northeastern (3-1) Fri., Sept. 2 at 10 a.m...the Huskies have wins over Bethune-Cookman, North Florida and Florida Atlantic...Cougars take on UC Irvine (1-2) Sat., Sept. 3 at 10 a.m. and host Long Beach State (1-2) at 7 p.m...UC Irvine's lone win is over then-No. 7 USC, a 3-0 win at USC...LBSU defeated Texas Tech and lost to Pac-12 member Colorado 3-0...all WSU matches will have radio/internet broadcasts (see below) with Friday morning's broadcast on KHTR 104.7 FM.

Kyra Holt was named the MVP of the Purdue Mortar Board Premier tournament Aug. 26-27...Holt tallied 48 kills (4.36 kps), hit .309, had three aces, 26 digs and nine blocks to lead the Cougars to wins over No. 24 Kentucky (3-0), Wyoming (3-1) and the loss to No. 20 Purdue (3-1)...joining Holt on the All-Tournament team were senior OH
