Cougar Rowers to Compete at U23 and Junior Championships

Five rowers are set to compete next week.

PULLMAN, Wash. – Three current and one former Washington State University rower are set to compete at the 2016 World Rowing Under 23 Championships, while one current rower will compete at the 2016 World Rowing Junior Championships, both Aug. 21-28 at Rotterdam, Netherlands. 

Senior Nicole Hare and 2016 graduate Morgan Cathrea are representing Canada at the U23 championships, while senior Ieva Adomaviciute is representing Lithuana at the U23 championships, and junior Lucie Weissova is rowing with her native-Czech Republic at the same event. Freshman Ivy Quaintance is representing Canada at the junior championships.

A native of Calgary, Alberta, Hare is coming off competition at the 2016 Olympic Games held at Rio. She will team up with Hillary Janssens for the women's pair. A native of Victoria, British Columbia, Cathrea will row with the Canadian women's four crew along with Sierra Bronkhorst, Karen Lefsrud and Jessica Stewart.

Adomaviciute, a native of Kaunas, Lithuania, will row by herself in the women's single sculls, while Prague, Czech Republic-native, Weissova, will represent her country in the women's eight. 

Sidney, British Columbia-native, Quaintance, will team up with Emma Gray for the junior women's double sculls.
