LEWISTON, Idaho -- Washington State freshman
Justin Janke let a select number of the WSU men's team to the NCAA DI title at the Inland Empire Championships Saturday at the Lewis-Clark State College Cross Country Course in Lewiston, Idaho.

Janke, from Spokane, Wash., ran the 8000m course in a time of 24 minutes 9 seconds. Garnering top ten finishes were
Jake Finney (sophomore, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho) who took third place with a time of 24:23, and
Jackson Haselnus (redshirt junior, Gresham, Ore.) who placed fifth in a time of 24:28. Also scoring for the WSU men were
Reid Muller (sophomore, Pitt Meadows, B.C.), 11th in 25:01, and
Cameron Dean (freshmen, Spokane, Wash.), 17th in 25:11. Other Cougar men competing were:
Isaac Wadhwani 23rd (25:22), and
Alex Simpson 28th (25:30).

The Cougar men's team won with 37 points, followed by Gonzaga 69, Idaho 70, Eastern Washington 76, and Montana 88.

Tracy Myers (redshirt freshman, Beansville, Ontario) led the Cougar women with her 10th-place finish, running the 5000m course in a time of 17:51. Also scoring for WSU was
Steffie Pavey (senior, Oldtown, Idaho) 20th in 18:25,
Marie Gaudin (freshman, Arlington, Wash.) 25th in 18:36,
Mallori Lindberg (junior, Woodinville, Wash.) 26th in 18:36, and
Alexis Redfield (freshman, Zillah, Wash.) 30th in 18:59. Also competing in Lewiston were
Elizabeth Perez-Bossut 42nd (19:31) and
Alexys Garcia 45th (20:03). Sarah Reiter from Eastern Washington won the women's NCAA DI title in a time of 16:33.

The Idaho women won the women's NCAA DI standings with 29 points followed by Montana 42, Eastern Washington 76, Washington State 103, and Gonzaga 123.

The next competitions for the Cougar men's and women's teams are the Pac-12 Cross Country Championships, Oct. 28, at the Randolph North Golf Club in Tucson, Ariz.
